Affordability

The definition of ‘adequate housing’ includes affordability. That the personal and financial costs associated with housing should not compromise our access to other basic needs (access to food, education, healthcare etc) is a given.  This means that housing should cost no more than one-third of income. But how big is the gap between what should be and what is?

The cost of renting

"*" indicates required fields

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
Does your rent include council tax?
Are utilities (electricity and gas) included in your rent?
What is the EPC rating of your home?*
Do you claim Local Housing Allowance/housing benefit?
Do you think the rent you pay represents a fair price for the home you live in?

Property owners are free to charge any rents they can achieve in London. Although the rent cannot normally be increased during the fixed term of a tenancy, it can be increased by any amount between contracts. Do you think this system is fair?
